I learnt of Trunk Records while searching for a Moonscape Lp. Its a british jazz album of the 60's. Jonny apparently had a deal to reissue this iconic british jazz album but alas when I learnt of it, its run out of stock. So ebay was the only choice to get it(if it appears)
Anyway, Trunk records has always been on my radar, I have purchased 3 vinyl from him. What makes his vinyl releases different is the fact that these are rare or obsucre artisites or monumental pieces becoming avaialble again.
Among the pieces I have include Tubby Hayes Voodoo single (limited edition of 666)
The tracklisting is as follows:
Side One:
Voodoo
Side Two:
Give Me Love*
Bailey's Blues
The historic Brit jazz line up:
Tubby Hayes (tenor saxophone, flute);
Shake Keane (trumpet);
Jimmy Deuchar (mellophonium);
Terry Shannon (piano);
Freddy Logan (bass);
Allan Ganley (drums);
Kenny Lynch (vocal*)
There are 666 numbered copies, an evil number indeed to enhance the evil nature of the session. The record will not be repressed, which again is a bit evil.
Another nice piece is Blood on Satan's claw with a run of 500 vinyl only. Musically it is totally beautiful, the score written by Marc Wilkinson.
Another nice lp I got from Jonny is suggestively titled G-Spot. Its a jazz lp with some nice tracks like Folk Ghost and Icicles.
